About Asset Plumbing & Drainage
Two tradesmen, not a call centre.

Asset Plumbing & Drainage is run by Dominic and Tyler, who between them have over twenty years in plumbing and drainage across Auckland. The person who looks at your job is the person who does it.

Who you are dealing with

Dominic and Tyler

Dominic has over ten years in the trade. Eight of those were on commercial projects around Auckland, and the last two have been on maintenance and renovation work. Commercial work leaves you with habits, a way of setting out and recording a job, and those do not switch off when the job happens to be a family bathroom in Glenfield.

Tyler has been in plumbing and drainage for over a decade as well. His side runs from drain laying and unblocking through renovation work, colour steel and copper spouting, backflow prevention and IQP. He tends to get handed the awkward jobs, the ones where the answer is not in a manual.

Between them that is over twenty years, and a business small enough that the same two people see a job from the first phone call to the invoice. Nobody quotes work they will not be doing.

Why that matters to you

A larger outfit sends whoever is free. That works fine when the job is simple and badly when it is not, because the person on site has no history with the building and no stake in the quote. When it is two people, the person who told you what it would cost is the person standing in your laundry a week later.

Both trades

Plumbing and drainage under one roof

Most plumbers stop at the building line. Everything inside it, the pressurised supply, the fixtures, the hot water, is plumbing. Everything below ground outside it, the gravity systems carrying water away, is drainlaying. They are separate specialties and most businesses do one of them.

Asset does both. In practice that means when you describe a problem and it turns out to be on the other side of that line, nothing gets handed to a stranger. The same two people deal with it.

It also means we can tell you which it is before anybody turns up, which saves the fairly common experience of paying a plumber to tell you that you need a drainlayer.

How we work

What you can expect

Diagnose before quoting

Plumbing is mostly hidden. Twenty minutes finding out what is actually wrong beats a number that changes once the wall is open.

Told what can wait

If a cylinder has five years left, we say so. If a repair is throwing good money after bad, we say that too, and you decide.

Set out against real fittings

Mixer heights, tap centres and waste positions measured to the fitting being installed, not a standard dimension.

Honest about scope

We plumb. We do not waterproof, tile or build, and we will not let a quote imply we did somebody else’s work.

Records where they matter

Backflow testing and warrant of fitness items come with paperwork. That side is handled rather than improvised.

A realistic diary

Two people means we cannot be everywhere. If we cannot get to something, we would rather say so than book you in and let you down.

Questions

About Asset Plumbing & Drainage

How big is the business?

Two people, Dominic and Tyler. That is the whole thing. It means we are not going to be the fastest to a job in a busy week, and it also means you never get a stranger turning up with no history of your building and no involvement in the quote. Both of those are true and you should weigh them up rather than being sold only the good half.

Are you plumbers or drainlayers?

Both, which is less common than it sounds. Plumbing covers everything inside the building line: pressurised supply, fixtures, hot water and the waste pipework attached to them. Drainlaying is the below-ground gravity work outside it. This site is the plumbing side and our sister site is the drainage side. Same business, same phone number.

Do you do gasfitting?

Gasfitting is a separately certified trade in New Zealand and it is not listed as a service here. If your job involves gas, tell us when you ring and we will be straight about whether it is something we can take on or whether you need a certifying gasfitter. We are not going to imply a certification we have not put in front of you.

What areas do you cover?

The North Shore and the Hibiscus Coast. Devonport and the peninsula, Takapuna, Milford and the bays out to Torbay and Long Bay, across Glenfield, Northcote, Birkenhead and Beach Haven, out to Albany and Greenhithe, and up through Silverdale to Orewa. If you are on the edge of that, ring and ask rather than assuming, because travel time affects whether a small job is worth doing on its own.

Do you work with builders and property managers?

Yes to both. On renovations we deal directly with the builder or main contractor about timing, which is simpler because they own the programme. Rental portfolios and commercial buildings work well because the same problems recur and having someone who already knows the building saves explaining it every time.
